Starter Pack – Londoner

Now, there’s so many styles that can be described as #londonlook that I think it would be good for me to divide them into neighbourhoods. Or at least 4 different sections. Let’s do this.

EAST LONDON STARTER PACK

  1. Fjallraven Kanken backpack. Must have. 90% of population in East London thinks so.

  1. Cullotes. No matter the weather, culottes must be. Velvet or corduroy, the more vintage the better.

  2. Puffer from UO / denim jacket with shearling lining.

  1. Nike Air Max 97. Or similar. Double points if you have them in black. Or was it silver. Can’t remember.

SOUTH LONDON STARTER PACK

Here’s a little info. South looks are similar to East looks, but if we go further up west, SW has some interesting styles. One word- ACTIVE-WEAR. Everyone here seems to go to gym, yoga, cross fit. Everyone drinks green juices and do groceries at As Nature Intended/ Wholefood Market. Great to be living here. Totally recommend. So your necessities as for SWer are:

  1. Yoga mat Big plus if you bought it at Liberty/ Selfridges, but I guess Net-a-Porter will do.

  2. Asics running attire. You never know when you’ll have to run.

  1. Water bottle. Ecology. Reuse. Be pro.

  1. Beige/ camel cashmere coat. It works lovely with a pair of Nike training bottoms and Asics.

  1. And the most important accesorize of SW is… your good friend Amex. But not the best Amex, just the basic one, that you get for free. Still, Amex is Amex, right guys?

North London is a tricky one. Plenty celebrities live there, so the usual sight is: a person wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, holding white takeaway cup of coffee. Probably wearing baggy clothes/ active-wear. But if we’re here not to speak celebrities, then North London is all about:

  1. Longchamp bag

  1. Sunglasses

  1. Burberry trench coat.

  1. Kindle. Plenty of creative people up there.

  1. Beret. It’s stylish and so are north londoners.

This one is only a little bit more than 7000 GBP.

And what do most of Londoners have in common?

We all use Deliveroo to deliver wine or 6-packs (food is obvious), we get Uber everywhere, because is so much cheaper than the black cab, we all stand on the right, because left is for walking. No matter where you are, you stand on the right.
We all spend too much time on commuting and money on everyday life. But hey, it’s London! We live in London. Happy days!
We know M&S food court by heart and all its ready meals. We know it tastes better than Sainsbury’s, but it’s more expensive.
We never carry coins, nor cash. We don’t really have wallets anymore. Cardholders for life! They fit your debit card, Amex and Oyster! Who needs more?!

Also, everyone wears ZARA (bad, bad) so it’s really difficult not to see (at least) 20 of the same jacket everyday.

Right,
this post was a little bit about fashion, a little bit about lifestyle. Living in London is definitely a unique experience and along with opportunities and chances, come worries and stress. Like, where is my correspondence being delivered, after I changed my address 15 times in the last 3 years? Or: who’s Netflix and Spotify am I even using? Or: my recycle bags from council have not been delivered in time, what do I do?

Everything in this post is said with a dose of sarcasm. You know me.
