Krakow, Poland

I’ve been away for some time, and while I was away, I enjoyed my time at home. Coming to my hometown is something that always makes me feel better. No matter how things are in life, here in London, the moment I get off a plane I’m happy. Life goes so much slower there, the city is just livable (unlike London town). Even though it was pouring dogs and cats (or cats and dogs, I can never remember) and was a bit nippy, it still gave me peace of mind and lots of smile. I only wish I could stay longer.

Now, I think that the fact I know Krakow quite well (quite, because every time I go back, there are new places there!), gives me an opportunity to share with you some of my favourite venues.

  1. Bomba Na Placu, Klub, Plac Szczepanski. It’s been there for some time now, there are new places that compete with Bomba, but I stay loyal to it. It used to have Kawior cocktail on the menu. Now it’s off the menu, but you can still ask for it. And again, it might not be the best cocktail ever, but the atmosphere, memories and MUSIC is absolutely amazing there. This place is my favourite for a Friday night drinks. Late.

  1. Dolnych mlynow– it’s not one venue, it’s multipleks (so called). It’s an industrial space converted into many restaurants and bars. I haven’t been to all of them yet, but I have visited Bonjour Cava- cafe open all day, Wejze Kratfa- craft beer bar, Strefa- bar/restaurant. There is so much more there, that one could spend a whole day there and not get bored at all. Outdoor space is decorated with lots of lights, so it looks mega hipster and pretty at night. Good music is heard all over the place as well. Definitely a place to visit.

  1. Bal, Jewish Quarter, it’s a restaurant, well hidden inside industrial part of Jewish quarter, but just outside Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCAK) and Shindler’s Factory. It feels like home there. One spacious room, filled with wooden tables and chairs, big neon on the wall and some pictures hanged there too. It’s a very cultural place, there is selection of magazines, lots of leaflets inviting to events going on there. Great selection of music. I think Bomba and Bal have the best music.

  1. Eszeweria and Alchemia– both cafes are situated in Jewish Quarter, both are very unique. Dimmed light and candles, lots of good conversations heard and very cultural atmosphere. Alchemia is definitely a place for meeting various people with interesting ideologies and beliefs.

  1. Karakter– a restaurant that we discovered lately. Very modern interior, very good menu. Reasonable prices. Jewish Quarter located, makes it very attractive.

  1. Claudius Hair Tresser– for everyone who wants professional hairdresser. I trust them and I can recommend it knowing that whatever you go for, you’ll be happy with the service. Located on Florianska street, decorated beautifully.

  1. Charlotte Chleb i Wino is a cafe and a restaurant and a bar as well. French bistro serves fresh breads and breakfast till very late. It’s a very popular place, maybe too popular for its own good, but still recommended.

  1. Forum Przestrzenie is a venue at Vistula River, a cafe, bar, design centre and fashion centre. Very laid back venue and a meeting place.
